The Bottom Line:  Looking to make an investment, and get your self a compact monitor with absolutely gorgeous picture? Then this NEC is for you! The quality, value, and support is unbelievable!
I recently received the NEC MultiSync LCD 1530V as a Christmas present. I don't have a whole lot of desk space, so the first thing I noticed with this awesome flat panel was how LITTLE desk space it actually took up. The base that the monitor sits on is about 1 inch thick, and as big around as maybe a large cantaloupe The WHOLE UNIT itself is maybe 2 inches thick, as compared to a more than a foot with a standard CRT monitor. For even LESS desk space, it can also be mounted to the WALL.

The space saving feature of the monitor is just the beginning, though. The picture quality is unmatched. It's ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. White looks unbelievably bright, the color depth is unreal, and the flat screen with almost an inward curve makes it look absolutely unreal. I, honestly, would rather watch a DVD movie on my 15" flat panel than on my 27" television. No kidding.

One of the things I was leery about with the LCD screen was the fact that it was only 15", and I had been accustomed to a 17" monitor. Don't worry about this, however. A 17" CRT monitor is REALLY only about 15.9 inches viewable. A 15" LCD monitor is actually 15.1 inches viewable. The 0.8 inch difference is FAR MORE THAN made up for with the incredibly color depth and picture quality. I think this screen *looks* larger than a 17" CRT screen.

The environment your computer is in should be a big contributing factor to whether you decide on this monitor or not. The LCD screen is very sensitive, and shouldn't be touched. Fingerprints are difficult, yet not impossible, to remove from the screen. If you have kids who might touch the screen a lot, you might want to reconsider making this investment. It's a beautiful screen, but with beauty comes delicacy! :-).

The onscreen controls make setup beyond easy. The only limitation that this screen has is that it can only achieve a maximum resolution of 1024x768. For most people this won't be a problem. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you don't need to worry about it ;-).

The cost of the monitor for me was $400. It is somewhat pricey for a screen, but having had one now, I could NEVER go back to a standard monitor. The LCD monitor in my opinion is WELL worth every penny. It comes with a 3 year warranty also, and NEC is a very well reknowned brand with excellent reliability and great customer service.

Looking to make an investment, and get your self a compact monitor with absolutely gorgeous picture? Get yourself the NEC Multisync LCD 1530V, and as long as you take care of it, it'll take care of your viewing enjoyment! :-)
