Not good enough
Pros
Bright and quiet. Decent projector for PCs.
Cons
very short zoom range. Not suited for Home Theater.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
OK for PC applications but not good with Video. Need Component or DVI inputs.
I bought the VT570 sight unseen but based on some online-reviews. THey did mention that it has a very short throw distance but I assumed that it would be able to zoom back. I was wrong.
I have a 76" screen and planned to install the projector on the ceiling. Due to the really short throw distance and the very limited zoom range, I would have had to mount the projector in front of our seating area and well ahead of the connectors that are already installed in the ceiling. The Zoom only allowed me to move the projector about 1 foot and still fit on the screen. Not enough of a range for me to reasonably mount the projector.
The lack of a component video or a DVI input was the final straw in my decision to return the projector. Normal TV looks really bad on a 76" screen. The colors seem very pixelated as is the entire image. At least with a component input the picture should be decent out of my DVD player. Using the Composite input looked terrible - lots of interlacing issues anytime the image was panned at even moderate speeds.
The picture was very bright.
I only look at this projector for about 1 hour before I decided to send it back so I didn't get into too much detail.
