Could be better...
Pros
Good battery-life,plays audio cd's real good.
Cons
Not a very good mp3-cd player, skips like crazy...
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I don't recommend it because of the price-quality relation...It's not good enough
Well,so far,I've had Dav309,Dav310...I figured Dav315 would be the best...Wrong!
First you take it out of the box and the colours are pretty cool, the design is quite different than the other A-Max players and the construction is solid.
Then, you pop in the batteries and the nightmare begins...I tried the player out with a standard TDK CD-RW and it played fine...if I stood absolutely still!!What happened to the Sony Anti-Shock mechanism that was so advertised by A-Max?????
I read the instructions and there it was "When playing CD-RW the ESP will not be activated "...That was not what I was told when I e-mailed A-Max!
Anyway, I tried a normal audio CD and it played fine. The ESP was activated, but if I were you I would move around a lot because the ESP is definitely NOT foolproof...
The thing is,this player is advertised as being shock proof and having something like 120 seconds anti-skip memory. Not even close.
One of the items in the box is a strap to attach to the player and carry it around. Unless you like your music with hickup-like sounds, I'd suggest you leave the strap at home.
It's a nice looking,over-priced CD player that looks good on your shelf or in your car - as long as the road doesn't have too many holes.
It's anything but portable!
The good thing...It reads VCD's perfectly and the rechargeable batteries last a good working day (8 hours aprx). You can also use normal batteries like Energizer or any other and they will last for 15 hours!
However, if your looking for a player that can handle being carried in your backpack forget it...It's not worth the price or the effort. You're better off with a Sony Jog Proof or the Aiwa XP-511, which are cheaper and more reliable.
Enough good things let's get back to reality. Dav315 has a few gimmicks that don't work very well. There are environment choices like "rock","blues","pop"...they don't do anything but causing distortion and ruin the already awful earphones...The earphones...oh...what a suitable brand:"Phony"!Jeezz!
The audio connection cable that comes with the player is also garbage...What can I say? Buy another one.
If you really want an Mp3-cd player try the Aiwa XP-Mp3, or even the Phillips Expanium. They are more expensive but their anti-shock systems really work.
My opinion is that Mp3 player technology is still very recent...let's wait to see. Meanwhile i'll stick to the hardrive players...they store millions of music and they haven't let me down yet.
I'll keep on hoping...
