Pros Great auto-focus, super flash program, sturdy and dependable, cheap.
Cons A bit bulky, and the technology is dated when compared to the F100 & F5.

OVERVIEW

Nikon's top tier of cameras (F5, F100, and N90S) are cousins under the skin...all posses a unique computer interface that allows the photographer a larger number of options than many similar cameras from other manufacturers. The oldest member of the trio, the N90S, introduced in... Read full review »

Pros Superb design, first-class quality construction
Cons None

I'm a terminal Nikon user. I've been using Nikon cameras for nearly 10 years and each new camera is a tremendous leap forward. I've used the N90s extensively as both a primary and secondary backup body. I must say, it functions exceptionally well in both roles.

Firstly, if you get one,... Read full review »

Still a Great Picture Taker!

Pros Super Auto-Focus, Great Metering System, Well-Built and Hard to Fool...
Cons Bulky & Heavy with Battery Pack/Grip, & Unable to Bracket w/o Optional Data Back.
Recommended it? Yes

Nikon introduced the N90 in 1992 and the N90s two years later in 1994. To this day, there is debate whether this camera was a high end amateur camera or a low-end professional tool. To me, the argument is moot. For me, my N90s has allowed me to progress quickly and effortlessly along my journey of... Read full review »

Nikon N90s Semi-Pro

Pros Tough,Good quality pictures
Cons Little noisy
Recommended it? Yes

The Nikon 90s is a very good camera for someone who wants to step up to a semi-pro camera. It can be confused by very bright or dark backlighted scenes but not as bad as an N70.It is a little noisy and with the optional MF-26 multifunction control back it can do many things such as double... Pros Excellent interface, Professional quality and features at a reasonable price
Cons Need to buy additional Data Back for multiple exposures. No Mirror Lock-Up

I have more than a passing interest in photography, and have enjoyed taking pictures for several years. Up until this year, I had been using a Canon EOS Elan IIe, and I was for the most part very satisfied with the camera. There were only 2 things I thought it lacked: professional build quality and... Hers Is My Take On The N90s After 5 Years of Pro Use...

Pros Modern autofocus and flash systems
Cons Relatively light-weight for a pro camera; Needed repairs during the warranty period
Recommended it? Yes

I have used N90s cameras since they were first introduced in the mid-1990s. By that time the autofocus and flash technology had evolved to a point where I felt I would benefit from making the switch from manual focus Nikons. When the N90s came out the top-level Nikon was the F4, which is a heavy... Read full review »

Pros It's an SLR and can be found cheap, professional level tool.
Cons advanced features require a databack. No built in flash, requires hotshoe flash.

I picked this up used from a professional portrait photographer while she was giving a presentation at my camera club. She had recently switched to all digital equipment. I had never had an SLR of any kind and for the price, I could not pass it up.

I paid $150 for the N90s body, a nikon... Read full review »

N90S - It's the best for photographers

Pros Solid, metal construction; exemplary optics and exposure controls
Cons Gets heavy
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased my N90s as my first major photography purchase. I was so impressed. I made a point to sit down and discover exactly what this bad boy could do. However, I soon found that a lot of the neato-peeto functionality would require additional purchases (SB-28 Speedlight, MF-26 Databack, MB-10... Read full review »

Pros Good solid reliable equipment
Cons a little heavier than some cameras
Recommended it? Yes

This is a wonderful piece of equipment, does exactly what one asks of it, and never misses a beat. Have run over a thousand rolls of film through it, and have only a handful of pictures which missed the mark (on rare occasions, the auto focus can get a little squirrely, oncoming headlights seem to... Simply put...a great camera!!

Pros Relatively light weight compared to my older SLRs. Easy to use for its many functions.
Cons Nothing comes to mind.
Recommended it? Yes

Many years back on a photo (and fishing) excursion to Yellowstone I only had my manual focus SLRs. While wonderful shots came from them, I missed some serious award winning chances without fast auto-focus. It got me thinking I needed to add to the bag, and being an avid reader of Outdoor...
