The Good And Bad of The Game Boy Color
Pros
Color!
Cons
Cannot play in dark, without a light attaching
Recommended it?
Yes
Out with the old original game boy, and bring in the new. What is the new? Game Boy color. At around Christmas time I thought I should get a Game Boy Color, for trips I have to take to keep me company, when I'm tired of reading. So I picked this up for about 65 bucks, at the nearest electronics store. Here is what I thought.....
Compared to The Original Game Boy
Compared to my original game boy, the game boy color blows it away. Sometimes the original game boy is hard to see even in the light, you will not have that problem with this console. The game boy color always gives a clear colorful picture to go with their games.
Also of course, the biggest difference between the game boy color, and the game boy is the color. The GBC can show 56 different colors on one screen at a time, the game boy color just has black and white. Clearly, game boy color has a big advantage from just that one thing.
Games
The GBC has a wide selection of games. From sports games to action games the GBC has it all. Even if you are not a big time gamer in the sort of sports or action games there are still games for you. Do you like Wheel of Fortune or other trivia games? The GBC offers many game show games turned into video games on this console.
Do I have to Buy All New Games For The GBC
Let me clear up a couple things to help you make a better decision. Most game boy color games will work in the original game boy, they just won't be in color. But you do not have to buy all new games to play the GBC. Your old original game boy games will work, and WILL be in color on your GBC.
FallBacks
There are many fallbacks to the game boy color. Like all consoles, nothing can be perfect, and there are many problems I have found with this.
Can't Play In without Light
Yes, you heard right. The game boy color is not usable in the dark. You can not see the screen, therefore you cannot play. This is a major drawback that should be fixed with the next handheld console made by Nintendo.
Note: If there is no light switch you have in your car, or plane, or wherever you are, and you want to play your game boy there is a way. There is a light that hooks up to the game boy and shines on it so you can see. I personally have one of these and they are priced around 15$.
Price
The price of the game boy color is not a great price, yet it IS worth it. For all the fun I have with mine belive me it is worth it.
-Console-65-75$
-Games-20-30$
-Light-15-20$
These prices may seem expensive, but I would recommend it anyway.
Conclusions
First let me say GBC-game boy color. Sometimes I write that because it is shorter, and when I talk about mine I usually refer to it as that. Anyway the game boy color is highly worth it with some flaws. I highly recommend this to traveling parents with traveling children.
