Nokia - Connecting People

Pros Easy to use and reliable
Cons Not for heavy cell phone users.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:

For casual users and great on emergencies.

I will admit this is NOT the most popular phone.  This phone is NOT the most popular leading brand anymore.  This does NOT offer all the features newer phones have.  This phone is NOT super thin.  Then why am I writing a review of it?  It was FREE.  It works for "Connecting People".  That's all I need.  I have noticed everyone I know having problems with their new technology phones and it seems I often hear them saying that when their "2 year" contract runs out they will be changing it.

I have been using Tracfone for over 4 years.  While many consumers complain about this prepaid phone service, I've had an excellent experience and have continued to use this service for only under $100 per year.  I had received a brand new free Nokia with my initial order.

Tracfone notified me that my old phone was outdated and would not work in my area so they asked me to choose another phone from their website.  Since I was already familiar with the Nokia, I decided to stick with the same brand and chose this Nokia phone for free.  I could have chosen a different brand that had more features for a small charge but considering my needs and use of a cell phone this was perfect for me.

While this phone may not be available for purchase since cell phones are constantly being updated, Nokia's website still offers support for all their older models.  I did notice this model may be found for someone from a private seller.

Nokia 1112 Phone Appearance
When I received this phone, I read the instructions in the User Guide that came in the box with the phone.  The first thing was to insert the battery and SIM card by removing the back cover.  I then read the entire manual but only learned to use the features I would use.  Since the keys are used for different features, I had to review the manual several times to learn some of the features I would eventually want to use.

This phone was easy to use.  The keypad has large numbers with easy to press soft buttons.  The display screen is slightly larger than a 1 inch square.  The buttons below the display are the basic 5; to use the features, the center button scrolls 4 ways, the green button on the left to make a call and the red button to the right ends a call.

When I turn the phone on, I can see; on the top left the signal strength, top right the battery strength, the date, total number of units with the Tracfone service and the last line has the Menu on the left and the Go to for shortcuts which I never use.  When the phone is Standby Mode, I have the clock with the date below it.

My phone is gray, black and some white.  It was specifically programmed to be used with Tracfone service.   The reception for around my area has been better than others with newer phones from leading competitors.

This phone has many features that I will never use.  I do use the basic ones that allow me to see which calls I missed while the phone was on, my few contacts and the the ring tones.  These are the features that came with this phone.

- Call log for duration of call time

Overall
I've had this phone for about 2 years and I've had no problems with reception on both ends; receiving and sending.  I feel like I am using a landline phone.  I purchased a cover made for this phone that keeps it clean.

If you know someone that has this phone but lost their manual, you can get it from the Nokia website.

This is a nice size phone with pretty good basic features for anyone that makes only a few calls a month.  I keep it in my pocketbook and fits in those slots that come in most women's bags.

My phone comes in handy when I'm expecting an important phone call at my home and need to go out, I use my "Call Forwarding" feature with my landline phone and receive my calls on this cell phone.  I only answer the important ones since my minutes cost more than those with contracts.
