Recommended it?
Yes
My new Nokia 5160 is a very nice phone. I have written about my experiences with my carrier, AT&T wireless and have nothing but praise for them. Well, the same can be said for my new phone.
The Price
Can you beat free?!? My carrier gave it to me to sign an additional year contract, not a problem since that was what I was looking to do anyway! They even improved my plan with the new deal. I have been told that this is a $150 phone and I do believe it, it is loaded with fun features.
Functionality
First and foremost is the functionality of the phone. Does it do what it is supposed to do? The answer here is a most definitive Yes. I get a much better signal strength with this phone than I ever did with my old phone. I even get a signal in areas I previously did not. Furthermore, the quality of the voice coming through is much better. I had an older model Ericsson phone and I am amazed by how much better this one?s quality is.
Features
Yes, after the nice little test of basic functionality is the question of features. I have not had the phone for too long yet so I am still exploring the vast number of features on this phone. Most important for me is the hands-free ear piece available for this phone. I tend to talk on the phone when I am in the car most of the time so it is very valuable to have a phone that I can talk on without having to hold it to my ear. Talk time is an incredible three hours and yes, this is an accurate number from what I have discovered. This is far and away much better than my old cell phone. Another great feature is the very nice address book that is included on the phone. It has a very clear visual menu driven navigation system as well. There are even games! If you are so bored that you need a little entertainment while you wait for that long train to go by, just pull out the old cell phone and have a little fun. I am sure there are still more features to this phone that I have yet to discover.
Overall I have nothing but high praise for this phone. It meets my needs to a T and has additional functionality to boot. You get a fantastic talk time of three full hours and a standby rate of supposedly 96 hours. Very impressive indeed! The quality continues beyond the technology all the way to the construction. It is built to last and seems much more durable than the phone of just a couple years ago. It is lightweight and sleek enough that I could carry it in my pocket if necessary.
