The Bottom Line:
I'd recommend this phone to anyone, really. It's basic, but it covers the job, and has great talk time, over the stated 4 hours...
For starters, I just want to point out that I am NOT a technical person, so this review will be a layman's level review...I typically write my reviews on cars, but I just wanted to put one out here on this cell phone.
I got this phone as a replacement for the Blackberry Storm that I had prior. The Blackberry is an AWFUL phone, and I had to get it replaced twice with teh 30 day worry free guarantee Verizon offers, and after the second one dumped programs, and refused to turn itself back on (which is what the first one did, too...) I elected to just go back to a simple phone without all the bells and whistles, and this Nokia 6205 does just that.
They offer the phone in a special edition "Black Night" edition, named after the movie. It's apparently only an online offered phone, as the stores don't carry them, and a light blue colored one, which is the one I got. They call it light blue, but, to me, it's more silver with a slight bluish tint. I think it looks good, and I am not one for colored phones...
It's got the basic features, such as a 1.3 MP camera with flash, video recorder, removable memory card slot that will hold up to a 4MB card, color internal and external screens, and a keypad...That's about it, but then again, it's now being offered as a free phone, so I didn't expect much in the way of features...The camera takes decent pictures, call quality is pretty good, and I do have to say it's much more comfortable to hold while talking than the Blackberry was, or my previous Lg EnV.
Truly, the only real negative I see to the phone is its weight...It is VERY light...While I realize this may be a benefit, I had gotten used to the EnV and the Storm, which both had considerably more heft to them, and the Storm is mostly metal construction, which makes the plastic Nokia seem very delicate. Time will tell how well it holds up, but I am preparing myself for the possibility that this will definitely be a phone that doesn't last long enough to cover the 2 year contract...
If you're looking for a nice, basic phone without a lot of frills, this one seems to fit the bill.
UPDATE 3/19/09---Not sure what this review is missing that only got it a SH rating, but whatever... This phone is more durable than I first gave it credit for being. To date, I've dropped it a few times, and this morning, I dropped it on my way into work, and kicked it when it caught my foot while on the upswing of a step. It's got some pretty nice road rash, now, and the blue color chipped off in several spots, but it still works and well.
