The Bottom Line:
Stray from this phone. It has sporadic charging problems and excessive power consumption from the color, persistently backlit screen (lack of settings for backlight). It's nothing special.
I try to take care of my phone. I charge it nightly. I'm sure I've dropped it at least 4 times from waist height onto a hard surface, maybe slightly more. I've never submersed it, but the wet-indicating sticker is solid pink as if it's been underwater due to it being in a steamy bathroom.
My primary complaint - and reason for my review here - is that I have a very hard time keeping the charging cable plugged in "correctly". Upon close visual inspection, nothing is broken, bent, or even scuffed on either the phone or the cable. For the phone to stay connected to the charging cable, it requires constant pressure on the cable towards the phone. If it is even slightly too little pressure, it will not stay connected and will fail to charge the phone. This problem results in the phone not being charged in the morning after being plugged in for 8+ hours overnight.
I am on a Sprint family plan, and have 6 family members with the same phone. Three of us have this same connection problem between our phones and their charging cables. I've tried switching charging cables with a family member that does not have the problem, and my problem persists while their phone continues to charge normally.
My Opinions:
There is a chance that a "batch" of Sanyo PM-8200s does not charge properly. There is a chance that 3 of 6 Sanyo PM-8200 owners in my family have damaged their phone similarly, resulting in identical charging problems. I sincerely believe that the phone is faulty, but the fault is limited to a small batch of Sanyo PM-8200s.
