Not Perfect but Definitely Worth the Money

Pros Portability, Scalability, Cool factor, Software
Cons Speed, No YouTube, Input is pretty unpleasant, No Microphone
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  What I get out of it is definitely worth the $130 I paid on eBay. I've used mine so much and gotten lots of random benefits out of it.
Design of the 770 itself.
Out of the box, the design of the device is really pleasing. It looks
slick. It has a built-in hard case that you slide the main unit in
and out of, so it's easy to protect the screen when it's not in use.
the unit has a good weight to it. Not too heavy. The weight makes it
feel a little bit more solid. On the bottom is where you plug in the
power cable, headphone jack, and USB, and it's nice to know the hard
case gives you access to these ports whether device is open or closed.
I like that. I also like the way the stylus stays in the unit. You
can't pull the stylus out while the shell is on, so you don't have to
worry about it falling out.

The screen is excellent. The picture is very, very sharp and bright.
The resolution is great. You can zoom out on web pages and still read
the text. very cool!

The Operating System:
So I believe the OS is like the standard "Internet Tablet 2006 OS" --
I'm pretty sure it's some type of build of linux. The initial boot
time of the unit is 40 seconds. Not super duper fast, but once it's
on, I usually leave it in standby. Then there is no start-up time to
worry about. it comes on immediately. Using the device is very
intuitive. I could learn the interface in an hour or so and was a pro
by the end of the first day. The interface is very well done. It's
usually obvious what to do once you use it for a bit. I am happy with
the interface. The "taskbar" is a vertical one on the left side of
the screen. There are also buttons to active the "start menu" as well
as a button to bring up your web browser bookmarks.. and at the
bottom, your open tasks will appear.

Software:
The web browser that is pre-installed is Opera. It runs pretty well.
Normal web browsing is excellent (just going to IMDB, message boards,
stuff like that). You can also use the HTML version of Gmail, which is
nice. The 770 does NOT support youtube out of the box. So you can't
watch streaming videos through the browser. I hear you can do
streaming radio, but I haven't tried it yet. Downloading and
installing JPEGs, MP3s, and AVIs tends to work well, as the tablet's
built-in audio/video player is pretty decent. You can watch movies in
"full screen mode." It's also worth mentioning you can browse the web
in full screen too, hiding the side taskbar. That's nice. The thing
comes integrated with "Google Chat," Google's chat software. If you
want to use AOL or something else, you can download and install a
mobile version of Gaim, a trillion-esque piece of software.

What's cool is, there's an entire community of developers out there
for the 770/800 devices. Some of the coolest things that I've
downloaded and used so far are:

VNC Viewer/Server: Yes. I was able to (very easily) access my desktop
via the 770's VNC Viewer. And Vice Versa! I was able to access my 770
from my laptop's VNC viewer. That was very cool. Looking at my
desktop from the 770 was VERY fast and pleasing to use. VERY cool!!!

DOOM: Yes. The original DOOM plays amazingly well on this little
device. Beautiful. Relive those old times.

Gaim: as mentioned above, lets you connect and chat with people on
AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and IRC.

Ssh Client: There's a simple SSH client you can download to remote to
other machines as well.

System Monitor: It doesn't come pre-installed, but the one you add on
is nice. You can monitor your disk/memory usage and kill processes
manually.

Battery Life:
I think you could probably do 5 hours of continuous web surfing on
this thing before it dies. In standby, I think it will run for a
couple of days. The battery life, overall, is good, I'd say.

Things I like:
1. What it does, it does very well.
2. Battery life seems good.
3. Full screen video playback.
4. Portability!!!
5. Cool-factor.
6. Ability to download external software and expand the memory.

Things I do NOT like:
Ok, so it sounds great, but the device isn't perfect. It does have
some shortcomings.
1. No youtube support. You can't watch streaming video online, which is sad.
2. Advanced web pages have problems. stuff with lots of
multimedia/flash may not load and crash the browser completely.
3. The device, over all, isn't as fast as I would like it to be. For
simple stuff, it's good. But for multi-tasking and other things, it's
slow.
4. Typing via the on-screen keyboard is slow and tedious. You
definitely don't want to do lengthly emails on this thing. It's better
for reading things, not writing them. I HIGHLY recommend getting a
bluetooth keyboard to use for input. The hand-writing functionality
is useless so far. It's not very good at this at all. It does have a
"learn mode" that I haven't gone through yet. This might help it
some...
5. No microphone for recording/video conferencing.

CONCLUSION:
For $130, this thing is definitely worth it. Web on the go... View
your websites, check your email... Just throw it in your bag and have
it on you.. If anything, just to surf, play DOOM and watch movies in
the bathroom :)

A better option, though, if you have the extra money, is to get the
Nokia 800. It's faster, has youtube support, and is just more solid,
so i hear....

Numbers:
Design: 4.5 / 5
Speed: 3 / 5
Multitasking: 2.5 / 5
Battery Life: 4 / 5
Fun Factor: 5 / 5
Usefulness: 4 / 5
Portability: 5 / 5
Space: 3 / 5 (doesn't come with much, but is expandable up to 2gigs)

Overall: 3.8 / 5

If I could change anything:
I'd make it faster, with more memory and better battery life (and I
think that's the nokia 800, basically).

So there you have it. I'd say what you get out of it is
definitely worth more than $130 I paid on eBay. I've played with mine so much and
gotten lots of random little uses out of it. :) I think i'm going to
get a bluetooth keyboard.
