The Nokia BH-300 is small, but Mighty!

Pros Small with a good sound!
Cons None!
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you are looking for a small good working Bluetooth headset, then this one is worth checking out.

The Nokia BH-300 Bluetooth headset is another small unit from Nokia, but at a much lower price than the Nokia BH-800 Bluetooth Headset Silver Headset. The BH-300 is built more simplified to keep the cost down.

BH-300 verses BH-800
As far as size, they are almost the same size with the BH-800 being slightly smaller.

The best design in style and quality goes to the BH-800. It looks more expensive than the BH-300 and is. The BH-800 retails for $179 while the BH-300 retails for $79; saving $100.

Both come with a charger and instructions, but the BH-800 has an added pouch and chain that the BH-300 does not. The BH-300 comes in white and has four changeable ear-loops in different colors that fit around the ear and can fit around the headset for a fashion statement. Colors are dark grey, pink, lime green, and copper brown.

The BH-800 has a button to control the volume up and down on it; the BH-300 does not have a volume control on it; volume control is done through the phone.

The charging port is in an easy spot just to plug in on the BH-800, while the BH-300 has the charging port under the ear-loop piece.

The on/off button on the BH-800 is on the top, while the BH-300 has the on/off button on the inside where the earpiece is. This presents a problem until you get use to it; if you press the headset against your face it will shut it off.

In sound quality, they are almost identical with the BH-800 having a slight higher volume. Both have red LED for charging/turning off and it changes to green when on.

Bottom line: The Bh-800 looks the best, but for the Price the BH-300 is the better bargain.

BH-300 Features
The BH-300 is made of plastic, color in white with four different colored ear-loops to pick from. The headset is so small that you can actually wear it without the ear-loops, but without the ear-loops it could also be lost because you will forget that you are wearing it, it is that small and light.

This small unit only weighs 0.35 ounces and measures, 1.7 inches long by 0.91 inches wide by 0.43 inches thick. This is a small and lightweight unit. Talk time is rated at 5.5 hours and standby time is rated at 150 hours.

The BH-300 has Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR specification, Hands-free 1.5 and Headset 1.1.

What come in the package?

My thoughts
The BH-300 has the Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, which breaks the 30 feet bearer with Bluetooth and brings it up to 300 feet. My tests show a big improvement in distance; in the building I work, I could travel about 150 to 200 feet from my phone and it kept on working before there was any distortion. Outside with nothing in my way of sight it goes good to about 250 feet and at about 275 feet, the signal is lost. It was short of the 300 feet, but a big improvement to the old 30 feet range.

Sound quality is good with the BH-300; I use it with the Nokia 6265i Cell phone so I can listen to music through the headset. Here is a note; so far, the Nokia phones are the only ones that I have used that will let you play music through your Bluetooth headset.

I guess the talk time of 5.5 hours is close because I can listen to my music for around six hours a day without a recharge, which also includes answering the phone calls in between. The standby time of 150 hours, I couldn't tell you because I use these headphones all day long and run the headset till I hear the beeping that it wants to be recharged.

Paring up with the phone is easy, just turn on the headset and let the phone find it.

Comfort is the name of the game with both the BH-300 and BH-800, both are so light you will forget you are wearing them. Is the BH-800 worth $100 more that the BH-300, for me it is not, the BH-300 sounds good and is very reliable and can be found as low as $49.
