The Bottom Line:
If you are interested in conserving your time, your money, and your batteries, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
One for All Kameleon's product seems like the best idea yet to run all of your components with a single remote. The idea of an illuminated remote seems great as well. Unfortunately, in reality, I find it to be an unwieldy, unpractical product with few redeeming qualities. Yes, the remote does indeed work on all my components, but the batteries die every few weeks. And when the batteries die, you have to re-program the remote to work with the components again. What a waste of batteries ( and assault on the environment) and of my time! Kameleon claims that if you want to extend battery life, you can adjust the display to run less brightly, or shut off after a few seconds (which also requires programming), but if you run the remote at these settings, you don't have enough time to see the images on the screen before the light goes out. If this happens in the middle of trying to enter a complicated set of programs , you must start over, and spend minutes doing what should take seconds to execute. Also, in the name of "conserving batteries", the remote can be set to turn on in reponse to movement, in which case it turns on at the very slightest vibration ( and gobbles batteries all the quicker) or to only turn on when the screen is pressed. If you choose this option, when you try to turn on the remote after it just shut off( in the 3 second mode), it sometimes interprets this as a new command for your component. The outcome of this might be that your attempt to turn down the volume results in your changing the channel when you try to get the remote running. Also, I find the lack of buttons much more of a hinderence. You can't feel your way around the remote with your fingers, you MUST look at the remote in order to use it. Not fun. Additionally, the keyboard does not always correctly interpret the buttons you are chosing, so you end up on the wrong channel or unable to turn down the sound.
