Not Just Another Point-and-Shoot

A short time ago, I found myself in need of a good camera--one capable of shooting publishable slides--for use in my freelance writing work. I did a little research and opted for the Olympus IS-20 DLX. Let me tell you, this is one neat camera.
Housed in a unique and stylish silver design, the IS-20 is an eye-catching piece of equipment. But it's definitely not just another pretty face. As I mentioned, I needed it for shooting slides. With a shutter speed of 1/2000 second, I have no problem getting great results. The 28-110mm zoom lens gives me a wide range of shooting options. And I love the SLR lens that ensures what you see in the viewfinder is what you get on film.
Best of all, for me at least, are the Direct Mode Select buttons (full auto, landscape shots, portraits, stop action, and night scenes), which allow me to take great shots no matter what the setting or situation. (You can manually set the composition controls, too.)
The only negative I found had nothing to do with the camera, but with the carrying case Olympus supplied with it. Meant to be worn on a belt, the case is too small to be practical. There's no room for extra film or batteries. Plus, I found the camera a bit too big to wear comfortably in that manner, even if I did want to stuff it in that little case.
All in all, though, the Olympus IS-20 is a terrific camera that offers more than enough advanced features for the pro, and is user-friendly enough for even the most photographically-challenged (like yours truly).
