Versatility in a Package

Pros Does everything for you
Cons A little too smart
Recommended it? Yes
After years of using my dads old camera my amateur skills were craving something a little more sophisticated for a change. Not that the old Minolta was a bad camera, but it didn't have the options I wanted. So I began to look for an affordable, yet versatile machine with which I would capture the world.
This camera is great for the photographer that wants simplicity and versatility. It can do a lot for a camera that costs only $300. All of the functions are easy to use with the top mounted push button menu system. The zoom is equally easy with the simple application of pressure to the wider or tighter angle. Nothing gets too complicated. There are some functions that do require pressing two buttons, but they are not common functions one would use everyday.
Now the only complaint I have with this camera is that sometimes it is too smart. There are times when I want the blurred effect to show, or take a picture in extremely low-light. However, the camera refuses to let me do so. There is also the issue of the lenses. There is a good range to start with for the beginner. However, when one wants to step up to say 210mm, one must be willing to pay. The lenses are not cheap, nor are the other accessories such as the remote. The quality that I get is some of the best I have seen in the 35mm format. The pictures are beautiful, the camera makes sure of that.
Anyone who needs a good camera without the extended versatility would love this camera. Everything is easy to use. The camera does everything for you except push the buttons. It will auto-focus, use the flash, and rewind the film all by itself. You snap away and it does the rest. I cannot express how many options it has for the price. For some $300 may seem like a lot, but I have priced cameras not as equipped as well as this one for over $500.
