The Bottom Line:
This is a decent camera for beginners and take pretty good photos, but you can probably find something better at this price point.
I have owned several Olympus digital cameras over the past few years, but this is the first one that I have been disappointed with. The camera is easy to use and has a variety of shooting modes, but the pictures could be a little better; the auto focus is slow and and finicky, and it has trouble balancing objects of different brightness such as a landscape with dark mountains and a bright sky. Also, the quality of the camera body itself is not very good, it is entirely plastic and fragile. I've owned this camera for 3 weeks now and it's having trouble reading its own card, which works fine in the old Olympus camera.
There is a distinct lack of options with the camera. It is a 12 megapixel camera, but if you want to take some pictures that will require less storage space on your card or your computer the next highest format option is 5MP, a huge jump. There is no option to change the metering, and on the P mode any changes you make are forgotten when you turn the camera off.
The other Olympus cameras I have owned have all been at pretty much the same price point, but have been better than this one.
