The Bottom Line:
Don't buy this product. It looks great, but the quality is awful.
My husband and I have now gone through two URC-9660 remotes (one for all) since last March. This product is awful!
We purchased this remote because of its ease of use (especially the device-specific lighted buttons) and because it offered support for Tivo. I also liked the smooth surface because it wouldn't get dirty like regular remotes.
The one for all is easily programmable so that it will do things like turn on the stereo and television at the same time. You can also program more complex things -- for example, ours automated the process of setting up our home theater to watch movies (changing the brightness and screen format of the TV, setting volume, setting stereo input, etc.)
Sadly, this remote didn't live up to its promise.
The first remote lasted less than two months. During that time, it went through a set of batteries every week, despite not being used that much. It finally stopped working. We returned the remote to Best Buy and got a new one. The second one was better -- it lasted a whole 5 months before it stopped working last night. There's simply no excuse for a product that cost as much as this remote to only last for a few months. Please note that we don't abuse remotes -- both only left the coffee table when they were picked up and used, and were kept clean and dry at all times. We never dropped or harmed them in any way. They're simply junk.
We won't be making the same mistake again on Friday, when we once again go to Best Buy to pick out (yet another) remote.
