The Bottom Line:
Save your money for a remote that can be programed from your computer.
Bought the remote 3 months ago and really enjoyed it for a while but after a month the shine rubbed off the kameleon. Each time I buy a remote I hope that this one will be the last one, but alas another let down. Out of the box the remote was easy to program to control my TV, VCR, CD player and DVD with little fuss and the blue keypad was very cool to look at and I used it constantly for a few weeks until I realised its cons outweighed its pros. I knew before purchasing that it was a battery hog but was prepared with a supply of NiMH batteries to feed it. What finally turned me off was when I realised that the remote was a better night light than a remote. You walk into the room and it turns on, you move and it turns on, a truck rumbles by outside and it turns on, it got to the point that I was leaving it face down so I would not have to see it turn on.
The face is great to look at and the buttons easy to find but you still have to look before you press so I switched back to a buttoned remote that still lights up but not when you walk into the room. The kameleon sits in a drawer now with five other remotes that did not live up to my expectations.
