Sounds good on paper BUT.....

Pros Universal remote that actually is universal. It runs everything I've tried it with.
Cons Absurdly sensitive motion control. Buttons are too small. Configuration not flexible enough.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  I wouldn't recommend buying this unit until the bugs are worked out. Give it another generation or two.
It looks good but after living with it for several months my entire family is ready to smash this thing into little pieces with a big hammer.

It could have been a great universal remote, with features like programmable buttons, macros and a very large database of devices it will control. Something got lost in the translation though and the end result is one of the most aggravating remotes I've ever used.

Worst feature:
If you're sitting in a darked room watching a movie with the remote next to you it constantly lights up if anyone moves. Ironically, when you want it to remain lit, it still turns off after 6 seconds and you have to shake it hard to reactivate it!

It naturally eats batteries like crazy. Alkalines lasted less than a month. Now I use rechargeables. I have contacted OneForAll about this. No response at all. Maybe they will fix it in a future upgrade if enough customers complain.

Other poor features:
The keypad programming is not as flexible as you'd think after reading the product description. Many buttons vanish in different device modes and the macro keys are very limited in what they can be made to do. Also you can't reprogram certain buttons at all for some reason. The original model of this unit, sold by Radio Shack, was much more configurable but clunky to use.

If you're used to remotes with tactile buttons the Kameleon is hard to get used to because you can't do anything by feel, you need to LOOK at it every time you use it since the surface is perfectly smooth. And the buttons are far too small for average size hands. For example, I'm constantly pushing "2" by accident instead of "Down". Very distracting.

The IR is very weak and you have to aim directly at a given device to activate it. Most newer remotes will reflect off a wall or two and still work. Not this one.
Since this remote uses IR and not RF it won't control X10 appliances directly but the Kameleon does have X10 codes built in so you can get an IR to X10 interface unit to allow this (additional expense).

The Kameleon needs to be redesigned to utilize touch control NOT motion control. It already has a metal case so that should be a no-brainer for their engineers.

Overall this unit is NOT worth what I paid for it and will be auctioned off soon on Ebay.

Note - if you really like this thing and intend to keep it you NEED to buy two sets of good NiMh batteries and a smart charger (such as Maha brand, not a cheap department store knockoff). Just swap them out once a week and you won't have to take out a second mortgage on the house to buy alkaline batteries.
