Wait for next generation before buying this one

Cons
very short battery life

No
The Bottom Line:
Wait for next generation, these will get better
Being an avid gadget fan, I purchased this remote with no hesitation. The setup was easy and I found that the macro capabilities of this remote to be very useful ; with one click I can turn on the TV,sound system,SAT receiver, DVD player and VCR.
The remote is quite large and heavy so it feels like a quality component.
The big problem : back light
Just having the dog walk by the living room table was enough to trigger the back light. I like zapping alot, especially with 700 channels from Bell Express-vu but this is almost impossible with the Kameleon since the backlight stays on if you keep in your hand, this drains the batteries very fast. I used this remote for 3 weeks and went through 3 sets of 4 Duracell AA batteries, this means that this remote is actually costing me more than the electricity my entire system consumes.
I just took back the kameleon at Futureshop and they asked no questions which means I am probably not the first one to have this problem.
My Recommendation
Wait for the next model, they will probably figure out a way to add a backlight switch so that the remote doesn't stay on all the time. Some grooves on the touch screen would also be great; this would enable users to push the buttons without having to look at the remote since this is flat surface.
