Great clean sound!
The sound quality on this unit is amazing.
PROS:
* Sound Quality
I am very impressed with the sound quality. I was using an old Sony ES single-CD player, and a standard Sony CD changer before that. The standard Sony CD changer, in retrospect, sounded pretty poor. The...

Very Poor Quality
Player worked well at first but after a couple of months would occasionally not recognize that a CD was loaded. It would scan all six slots and then would display No Disc. Usually after pushing the eject button a couple of times it would recognize and play the disc. Today it refuses to recognize a... Read full review »
I have had trouble
Be sure you take out the extended warrenty as mine....
My CD player (Onkyo DXC390) is just over a year old and is now not detecting the CD's.
I have opened to cover to watch the head reading the CD's. When the head was reading the CD it seemed to spin the disk for a second and quit. Idle...

Mellifluous, Natural, Clean and Musical Sound
Santa brought me this six-disc changer to replace an aging Marantz 63SE single-disc player (entry-level hifi in its day) that, only since then, has finally given up the ghost.
Sound/wise the first thing I noticed, right out of the box, was the relatively closed in highs. But, after about...

You Will Notice The Difference
Older Sony 5 Disk just lost its Random, so I shopped for reviews and specs for Multi-CD disk only. Concluded that Music=Music and DVD is best done ($perWow) with its own machine. Thus the CD390 caught my eye.
I know what I hear...the flute sounds more complex and complete, the vocals just a...

Possessed
Owned it for a year and 5 months. Woke up one morning it was on. Turned on by itself. Would not open up, shut off, play cd's, snort cocaine or anything. Am tempted to put a .22 shell into it see if it works then. Read full review »
Wow, built like a tank, and sounds great!
Long ago I was told by a friend about the quality of Onkyo products, so I looked into their line of CD players(including their new "Integra" brand)when the discman I was using finally wore out. After shopping around among several brands, I bought this player. The conveniences and ease of use of... Read full review »
I've had trouble, too
It worked okay for a couple years, then, like other reviewers have stated, it stopped recognizing the discs. I wasn't using it that often, so it's not like it was overburdened. Read full review »
ONKYO 6 CD Changer Model NO. DX C390
We purchased at HH Gregg less than 6 months ago. I have used it maybe 3 times. I got up this morning to find it turned on and playing. I could not turn it off or eject my Cd's. I called about it to the store and i get to eat $169.00 sale price plus taxes 8%. If Onkyo is reading you need to improve... Read full review »

Onkyo DXC390 6 Disc CD Player
Music lovers rejoice! Those looking for the ultimate in CD playback from an audiophile-grade component will be impressed with a high-precision, multi-bit D/A converter and 128 x oversampling. Others looking for convenience will thrill at the sight of 6-disc capability, 6 repeat modes, 40 track programming—and no worries about interruptions to your music, with the ability to change 5 discs while the last one is still playing. All will marvel at the crystal-clear playback, enhanced by our exclusive VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry), for a smoother sounding audio signal. Just as crucial to your sonic enjoyment is Direct Digital Path, a heavily shielded, high-quality cable that protects the delicate audio signal from noise emitted by the surrounding circuits. Housed in a sturdy chassis graced with a brushed aluminum front panel, the DX-C390 is ready to provide hours of uninterrupted music—for the soundtrack to your life. Key Technology Features: 192 kHz/24bit AD Converters: Costly, extremely powerful digital-to-analog converters , that not only boast a dynamic range of 120 dB, they process information faster and are virtually resistant to clock jitter, to ensure the best possible performance from DVD-Audio, DVD-Video and audio CD.RI (Remote Interactive): With Onkyo’s exclusive RI (Remote Interactive) system capability, you can integrate and operate all compatible components through a single remote control. What’s more, RI capability enables you to simply connect the iPod to your receiver through Onkyo’s RI Dock for the iPod (DS-A1). Your iPod effectively becomes another Onkyo component from which you can relish a fuller sound that just can’t be experienced through headphones. RI capability will also give you remote operability of your iPod for hands-off control over your digital music. VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry): Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can’t remove it completely. Previously only found on our high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between sampling points and these points are joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. The result — a virtually noiseless, smooth analog signal based on the digital source to bring out even the most subtle of nuances in your music, movie soundtracks and even MP3s. MP3 Playback: This audio format achieves about a 10:1 compression over conventional CD audio. What does this mean? You can store many more songs using the same amount of space. For example, a standard 650MB CD can hold more than 200 songs in MP3 format. Various bitrates allow for higher or lower quality, depending on the desired sound quality of the final recording.
