Awesome reciever
Pros
DD/DTS 5.1 DDEX/DTS ES 6.1 and prologic decoding.
Cons
I have had unit go into protect mode
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Solid AV reciever under $1000.00 . The only other option is the Denon 3801.
Excellent AV receiver no complaints. Does everything needed. DTS-ES (discrete) would have been nice, but DTS-ES (Matrix) and THX EX works for me. Not to mention there is not that much DTS-ES discrete software out yet. Works fine, sounds great and over all should make most mid to high range system owners happy. OSD is nice and simple. 105wpc , great remote , usefull soundfields and very easy to set up.
I have had unit go into protect mode watching certain dvd at high level. Only occured during sharp impact scences (i.e. gunfire). This happend at the begining of T2 special addition and a few other movies. I have scense looked into speaker connections and crimp connections.
Considered getting the Denon 3801. I needed 2 coax inputs. The 3801 have 1 coax and 3 optical inputs. Plus, I have had good experience with Onkyo equipment.
Onecall was exactly, one call. Ordered on a Monday and received Wednesday morning. Great services. Plus free shipping.
