The Bottom Line:
Buy it! It is the best receiver for the price. You won't be dissapointed.
I purchased this receiver 1 year ago. I originally had a Yamaha receiver. Once I hooked up the Onkyo I realized all the sound I was missing. I have Mission speakers which also sound great. The 6.1 surround sound engulfs you when watching a DVD. You will no longer go to the movies. Lock the doors and windows when watching a movie because there are sounds coming from all sides of the room.
The setup of this receiver is not that complicated. All inputs are clearly marked on the back of the receiver. Also, a great feature is the OSD (on screen display) which sets up the listening field for your room if it is large or small. You measure out the distance between speakers and it makes for perfect reproduction of sound. This stereo makes it impossible to mess up the set up process.
Another great feature is the amount of Optical lines, S-video, and coaxial cable lines. You can attach every piece of A/V equipment you have. It is also possible to set up another set of speakers around your house with an A/B switch.
You can feel the quality of this machine while lifting it. They only use solid materials. Make sure you read the guide book because you want everything to be perfect.
In regards to customer service- I had a problem with the display on the receiver and customer service responded immediately and replaced the product. This is an expensive receiver and if you can afford it, buy it.
