Using the receiver as a 5.1 with Zone 2
Recommended it?
Yes
Just installed the NR801 and for the price, I am extremely happy with the quality of sound in all aspects of mode of play. As mentioned in other reviews, the limitation of Zone 2 could be a problem. However, I bought this for the 7.1. Use your old receiver for the dining room. 7.1, even though not supported currently by most mixes, more than likely, will be shortly.
The sounds emitted from my Infinity HTS20 with the 12" powered sub, and 2 large floor speakers are crystal clear and deafening, if desired. Tying into the Philips 55" LCOS widescreen with component output, and HDcable/DVD component/Toslink inputs was a snap.
Overall, I highly recommend the 801.
