~~ GET YOUR ZODIAK ON WITH THE ORION GOSCOPE350 TELESCOPE ~~
Pros
Awesome, clear optics , brings the universe to your front yard
Cons
Bulky
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This is an astonishing telescope that brings the planets, the stars and the universe to your little part of the world!
Peek your head outside. Can you see the stars?
Can you find the Big Dipper, Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Cepheus? What about the other 84 constellations in the Solar System? There are 8 families of stars just waiting for you to discover them! You need a telescope that is going to take you out of this world, into a universe much bigger than yourself! The Draco is one of my favorite constellation families, named after the dragon, and I hope to see it one day! This is not only for science geeks like myself, but is romantic for dates, great for family fun nights, groups of like minded people, or just to zone in on when this world has just about gotten the best of you. You look through the hole, focus, and remember that you are a speck of dust, and the problems in life are microscopic in the grand scheme of things! But I have gotten light years ahead of myself....
The ORION GOSCOPE 350 is not just for star gazers. It is fun for avid bird watchers, like my little son, spying on nature, and research.
HOUSTON, GET TO THE POINT
I will get to the good part! Before we purchased this, we had a less expensive telescope that we had bought my oldest son in the toy isle of Target for Christmas. We could see the stars, the moon, and clouds, but it was a bot foggy and straining on the eyes. The telescope was a bit flimsy and if I remember correctly, the lens broke, so we decided to upgrade. My husband loves the stars, both of my boys do, as do I. This was an investment for the entire family. It is strong, sturdy, easy to focus, easy to look through due to the wide lens, and brings the hemisphere right in front of your face! Before you buy a telescope, it is fun to research astrology, either on the net, in books or through a local college class. Then you know what you are looking at, looking for, and the myths behind the stars that come out and greet you every night!
First, you want to get to s spot where there are not many trees, buildings or street lights. A park, campground, or a nice spot in your backyard would be ideal. The Orion has a 70 mm lens with a 350 mm focal length allowing you to see further than Apollo 13 could! It reflects the light of the moon to make a clear and close up zoom of everything you can find! The further away you focus your lens, the more you can see in the lens at one time. If you want to focus on a specific detail, adjust by rotating the lens and keeping still. Warning ~ when you move the scope, it flies so fast that you can get a headache if you let your eyes run as fast as it does.
It has a 6 X 20" "Correct Image Finder" scope with wonderful optics at very high resolution. You will be amazed at the clarity of that outer world! The tripod is very light, the telescope is chunky and bulky but not very heavy, and it only takes a few seconds to set it up and get it going once you get it up on the tripod. It is lightweight to move around. It stands 20" high and 9" wide. It is easy to store, and fold up and put away. You just want to make sure that you have a nice shelf, or secure box to put under the bed, or away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
I have to say that this is one of the nicest things that we own. It has brought out the magic of a much bigger world, and I know that you will experience what my family, The Hercules Family, The Orion family, The Heavenly Waters, The Bayer Group, The La Caille family, The Perseus Fam, The Zodiacal fam, and the Ursa Majors community have to teach you!
