Good For:
Home, Office, Gifts
The Bottom Line:
I highly recommend the Pandigital Digital Picture Frame for the high resolution, memory and the quality of the photos.
Since moving into our new home as empty nesters, we have had to downsize on everything including the amount of photo frames on the walls. The digital photo frame solves the problem of limited wall space and the damage of the walls due from the nails holding the photo frames.
We have recently tried the Kodak Easyshare 10" Touch Border M1020 but I was unhappy with the smallness of the actual photo display, the limited 128 mb of internal memory and the inferior quality of the picture unless looking at it from a straight line of sight so I returned it.
What I Bought
The Pandigital PAN1201W02 is much larger and offers a higher resolution of 1024 x 768 with a contrast ratio of 400:1 with internal memory being 512 mB. The frame is black and the controls are located on the back. The frame can be wall mounted or free standing. There is also a remote that offers everything that the back controls do. It is also WiFi/Bluetooth compatible.
It comes with the USB cord for the transfer of pictures from your computer to the internal memory and offers compression, which holds 2000 pictures.
It is also compatible with memory cards, multimedia cards, xD cards, Compact Flash, and Memory Sticks. It supports JPEG images, motion JPEG files and MP3 music files.
The Pandigital frame also features speakers, a calendar, and a clock. You can have your photos offering a slideshow with the calendar and clock constant. You can also set a schedule for playing your slideshows and you can put your pictures in different folders.
My Experience
The Pandigital is a winner with us as it is large enough to see set up on a stereo speaker while sitting on the sofa and the display quality does not change seated or standing. The resolution and contrast are very high compared to many others on the market and the user guide is very user friendly explaining how to setup and get the photos on your frame. This is a 100 percent better guide than the Kodak Easyshare, which left you to your own skills to figure out what to do.
I have scanned all the pictures of the kids, all the special events and vacations and all have been placed in the internal memory of the frame with plenty of room left for future photos.
The buttons on the back of the frame are easy to use and offer 6 special effects of a transition of the photo to the next photo and 3 different speeds as well as a choice of a slide show shuffle which displays your photos randomly.
The photos are crisp and colorful. You can change the brightness and sharpness levels on the frame.
The only negative I can say is the warranty is only 90 days and the Kodak was 1 year. However, I have rarely seen anyone complain about this brand so that alleviates some anxiety since this was $175.00 so it isn't pocket change at least for us.
These make great gifts for family members especially the grandparents with the giver loading the frame with all the precious memories.
