The Bottom Line:  If you want to listen to music this is the CD player for you!
Before going to Florida for a bar mitzvah, I need something to listen to on the plane ride and during down time. So before my trip I went to Wal-mart and bought a Sony Psycho portable CD player. It came with ear buds that had good sound quality, but not enough for me. So I purchased larger head phones, I do not like it when things are in my ears. The sleek design includes a black glossy top with a center ring that is dark blue and also glossy. When you look at it you can see a reflection and sometimes it indeed specs you out. One thing I didn't like about the Psycho was that the operating buttons are on the side (like with most Sony CD players). Also there is no repeat mode, there's a one song only mode which is useless and a "surf" button that for the most part is like a randomizer. Amongst these features there is a sound button that changes the bass, and makes the sound louder and worse then how it sounded before. The volume control is on the side as well with two buttons (one is up volume and one is down volume). This kind of makes it hard to turn down quickly and is a pain to put back up to full blast. All the volume levels are displayed on the black and grey screen and each volume level is broken into three, so there's a level 1:1 and 8:2, that means there are twenty seven different sound levels. The battery life on this player is incredible. I put new batteries in it when I first purchased it and used it on the plane ride to Fort Lauderdale (three to four hours with layovers) and back to Columbus, in the car riding to Columbus from Granville and back, in the hotel, by the pool and the beach. Not once during this extended time I never had to change the batteries. The CD play doesn't drain your batteries if anything it conserves them.
Despite it may have flaw there's good things as well. It's durable, rarely skips, I dropped it on the plane and in the airport many times (due to falling asleep), yet never did it skip never. The Sony Psyc reads all CDs: traditional CDs, information CDs, and burnt CDs. This makes things easy because you can bring your whole music selection or just a few CDs. When I went to Wal-mart to I was looking for an inexpensive CD player, now the Sony Psyc cost me thirty or forty dollars which isn't that cheap but it's a quality machine. I didn't mind spending some extra money to have a CD player hat wasn't going to burnout on me in moments. For the most part this item was well worth the money. In any case, if my friends or family members need a quality CD player I would steer there way to the Sony Pysc (D-EJ010) because it's easy to transport, it's light and the feature although there isn't that many, are alright as long as the person just wants to listen to music.
There are a few things that Sony could do to improve on the Pysc. A starter would be to provide a better head phone set with better sound quality. I think that they drastically need a repeat button with dual action of repeating the whole CD and individual songs. A larger display screen would also help this product; the screen would be hard to read for someone with an eye disorder. For the most part Sony has put out a decent product that does what it's supposed to and it does it well.
