Panasonic PV-GS31 Mini DV Camcorder

I bought this camera with the money I received from my family for Christmas. I had about $500 dollars to spend, but after researching camcorders I realized I did not need to spend that much for what my needs where. This camera fits me perfectly. I only paid $300 at Circuit City, after a $50 rebate, and I feel that I am getting my money's worth and little more. I was also happy to have some money left over for a bag, DV tapes, and some other stuff I wanted.

The zoom is the most attractive feature on the camera. It is able to really go far. I also like the light weight and the features it has to record in. One of them, the cinema feature, makes homemade movies look really nice. I also like the easy to use navigation button, which is mentioned in other reviews. It works well and does not strain your hand. With this camera you get what you paid for, and it really is a no frills, but does the job camera. I own mostly Sony products, but I am happy with my first Panasonic product.

My biggest problem with this camera is the fact the digital still pictures are only 2.0 mega pixels, which is very poor quality. You cannot rely on this camera for your still shots. I was upset that I spent money on a 1 GB Scan Disk to take pictures on this camera. I am looking to buy a digital camera to that takes SD, so my disk is not wasted (cost me around $75).
