The Bottom Line:
I recommend this product for people who love electronic devices and learn to use the products so that they get the most out of their purchase.
I purchased this unit about 5 months ago and I was impressed at how easy it was to familiarize myself with it. It did not take me very long to learn how to record programs from my DTV into the unit and DVD's were a snap. So far I have 12 films in the device 1,000 photos and 60 complete albums with about 21 gigs to spare.
I also like the SD card feature that lets me copy all of my photos from my Panasonic digital camera with no problems. It syncs with Windows Media Player just fine. It will recognize it as a portable device with no problems.
The other thing that I like about the unit is that you can just drag and drop files from any computer and use it as a portable hard drive.
The voice recorder is also a good feature if you want to take dictation or just remind yourself of certain events and things.
I also like the feature that you can record a voice narration on each photo to describe people, places and things.
Some people have written in their reviews that you cannot make playlists. This is not true. If you label some folders in the unit as for example country, rock , R&B you could just drag and drop the songs in the folders and play your desired playlist. This is very easy to do on your pc or on the device itself.
If some people would just take the time to get to know their device, they would appreciate it a lot more than they would just a regular mp3 player. Another thing to consider is that other Personal Media Players are copyright protected and you cannot copy from an external source as you can with the Mustek.
The calendar feature is good however you cannot input any entries via the unit. Must sync with organizer on computer.
The only flaw that I found with this unit is that the battery life could be better and that Mustek should offer a replaceable battery for the unit for extra power. A car adapter should also be included and the carry pouch could be better. This was probably done to keep the price of the unit down.
