Adequate and useful scanner
Pros
Easy to use, handles negative strips easily, good value.
Cons
Not professional quality, but that's not what you paid for, is it?
Recommended it?
Yes
I've had this unit for about 1.5 years. It is a great compromise between the high end (and high priced) scanners that do a professional job and low-end scanners, including flatbed scanners. It handles negative strips easily. I've had no problems with the drivers, even after upgrading to latest revisions. It does a good job of scanning negatives and even does a pretty good job of correcting for the various manufacturer's differences in film.
It is great for getting home photos into the digital domain to view online. Fast and easy, especially with the automatic film handler. It also does a very good job in slides.
But, understand the mission of this device: it's for home and "snapshot" use. It is not good enough to turn negatives into portraits.
The one thing that I have had to consistently do is to fix the exposure of scanned pictures. The native result seems always to be skewed to the dark side of the lighting spectrum.
