The Bottom Line:
The best smartphone for people who like ease of use and functionality. People moving from feature phones will love this.
Palm PRE is an excellent smartphone which has been receiving updates from PALM non-stop. There have been 9 updates in as many months. There is a difference of night and day between the features present in 1.4 and the ones when the phone was launched.
UI is the best of any phone that I have used and I have used them all symbian, maemo, android, win mobile and iphone.
Integration with facebook, linked in, yahoo, gmail contacts, calendar etc Palm calls it Synergy.
Multitasking and card view.
Pre allows one to be logged into gogletalk and yahoo chats all the time. WebOS shows all communication with a person be it chat or sms under the same messaging app which is great. Once you use it you never want to go back. Sound quality is great compared to my iphone. Camera and music apps are easy to use and great.
Lots of apps, I have found at least one app to replace my 180+ iphone apps. Currently I have 234 installed.
Battery Life is not great though. It will need a recharge by the end of the day with average use. You will need to tweak the phone settings and/or get a bigger battery. I am using a 2600 mAH ($50 from Amazon) battery from Seidio and it has been great. It does increase the width of the phone.
