The Bottom Line:
Stay away - nothing but problems haven't heard a good thing yet
I purchased the Palm 680 when it was released in Dec through cingular. It worked well and I had few if any problems for the first 2 months. When I added a 1gig SD card and MP3's the software problems started. The phone would freeze frequently between screens and I was pulling the battery out a few times a day to reset/restart the phone. I took the SD card out because the freezing problems were simply too frequent.
The phone had serious problems with the plug in headset. When I would remove the headset the phone would still think the headset is attached and therefore could receive and make calls but could speak to the other person. I would have to take the battery out to reset the phone or hard reset the phone which is a bit of a process. The problem got so bad I had to return the original phone after only 4 months of use.
I received my second Treo 680 2 months ago the SAME problems are occurring. Along with frequently dropping calls even though all the signal strength is high, calls sometimes go right to voice mail without the phone ringing, the phone doesn't know if the headset is in even if I haven't used the headset in weeks. You can only imagine how frustrating it is to answer a call and you can hear the other person but they can't hear you. I've blowing into the headset hole is the only way sometimes to get the phone off the headset function. Yeah it's 2007 and I'm blowing my phone to get it to answer calls – progress?
Going to be returning my Treo 680 this week and getting something else
