The Bottom Line:
I would not take another one if it was given to me. Stay away from this cheaply built PDA.
I got the Treo 680 as a replacement for a stolen Blackberry from Cingular. At first I was impressed. It seemed to work well. It did freeze occasionally, which was a pain. Other than that I was happy with it.
The bliss was short lived though. After about a month, I put the phone on my coffee table and lay down to take a nap on the couch. When I woke up to the phone ringing, the screen on the phone was white. It was not dropped or smashed, but the screen was cracked inside. After arguing with Cingular for a few days (Cingular said that even though I was paying a monthly fee for insurance the Treo was not covered and I should call my home owners insurance to have it covered as home computer!!) Cingular finally sent a new Treo 680.
This one was more of a disappointment then the first one. After just a week of use, the same thing happened again. Although this time I know what made the screen crack. I put the phone in my purse and shoved my purse in the back seat of my car with some luggage, I guess the little pressure on it was too much. For the cost of the phone, I had expected a little more stability from it.
Now I have not one but two very expensive broken 680's in my closet, and I shut my service with Cingular down.
