Site description 'slightly' misleading...
Pros
Excellent build quality, reliable, easy to work on. Used in many studios across the world.
Cons
None, other than it will need the capacitors replaced after 3,000 hours, +/- 1,000 hours.
Recommended it?
Yes
I work on these units from time to time as they come in for service. They are built like a tank. As expected, it will last for many years (or around 5,000 hours on the head).
However, the text below - copied from the description on this site is a little inaccurate.
****
It features First DVCPRO VTR to record/playback in both standard DV and Mini-DV and it plays back Mini and standard DVCAM tapes.
****
It will ONLY accept VHS and S-VHS style shells (tapes). DVCPRO, DV, and MiniDV are different formats and different size tapes. There are no adapters as it wouldn't work to begin with because the tape width and encoding method is different. Same goes for DVCAM, which is a Sony format anyway.
