Panasonic Showing Some Class!
Pros
Blacklight Effect at night. Different LED displays.
Cons
CD balance easily thrown
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Excellent unit that looks cool and works great!
When searching for a CD unit for my roomate I immediately went to Crutchfield. He had just bought a new car, it had that low quality factory head unit with tape deck and it desperately needed to be replaced.
I perused several brands, Kenwood, Sony, Alpine, etc etc etc, all of which were high quality manufacturers but lacked in aesthetic appeal. I come across the few Panasonics that actually fit the car and wow was I impressed.
It's a sleek champagne/silver color that has both day and night display. The daytime display is pretty normal, Blue LED and the silver face. At night it takes on a whole different look. The entire unit is lit up by a deep neon blue that almost has a blacklight effect. The face of course is detachable.
One other feature I really liked about it is that the faceplate flips down for the CD access. Helps keep the dust out and doesn't ruin the look of the face.
Features of this unit include:
AlfaTuner V
4-volt front and rear preamp outputs
4-volt non fading subwoofer output with selectable lowpass filter
CD Changer Controls
Mosfet 45 amp chip
Direct track access (for the 1st 12 tracks on CD)
Clock
Mute button
Wireless Remote
45 watts X 4 channels
And enhanced Bass Response with 3 settings.
Overall, this headunit looks good, sounds good and is relatively inexpensive. As all products from Crutchfield, it came with a free installation kit that made the install simple and look professional. This unit lists at $329.99 but I purchased it for $229.99 plus tax. We've had the unit for 6 months now, we did have to take it in to have the CD player rebalanced (It may have been knocked around during shipping) but since it has been balanced we have yet to experience a problem. I'd highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants a sleek looking stereo with quality behind it.
