Excellent product for the money! Recommended!

Pros Ample illumination for display! This thing is BRIGHT! Panasonic reliability. Plays wide range of CDR/CDRW.
Cons Cannot display clock and song titles at the same time. No scroll speed adjustment.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Good solid value for the money! Does what it does and does it best! Panasonic reliability!
I was looking for something relatively cheap, but not cheap in quality, that plays MP3s! The Panasonic totally performs well and throws in a few great features to boot. Originally, I was looking at Kenwood (also produced by the same company as Panasonic), Pioneer, and Sony. The Panasonic had the best price point and features for the money.

Unlike other reviews, I found the MP3 read time to be more than adequate. It played all of my CD media, from brand name to cheap CDR. The thing I didn't like about the unit was the fact that it didn't display the track ID and clock at the same time. I would've liked that instead of having the optional equalizer graphics, or "patterns" as Panasonic likes to call them. The title and file/folder names for your MP3s on disc only scroll once as well. It would've been better if it scrolled infinitely until the song finished or at least made it a user option to have it scroll once or more. Scroll speed would've been nice too but it's not something that can be changed.

The unit is bright by the way. No seriously, this is one BRIGHT display! I have it set to dimmer 1, which is the lowest and most satisfactory during night. Unfortunately, it's a little dim during the daytime. Still manageable though.

The random feature is a bit well... un-random. I found the same MP3s played more than twice on a CDR filled with 200 mp3s. I guess the Panasonic algorithm for the "random" feature isn't quite fine tuned. I haven't tried the XM Sirius radio because I do not subscribe to it. The controls on the unit are fairly easy to become famialar with. Don't worry about a steep learning curve. I found myself using the remote more often due to the directional keys for folder/track selection which made more sense.

Other than that, a solid performer with confidence inspiring Panasonic reliability. Aesthetically speaking the unit is very attractive. I bought this unit on eBay from an electronics liquidator for a stellar discount off retail price. I suggest you check there as well. Recommended!
