The Bottom Line:
Best bang for your buck, buy this and you won't be dissapointed with MP3 playback for a great price.
About a year ago I took a trip to TWEETER ETC and brought a MP3 cd with me. I tried the cd on about a half dozen MP3 units and found that they all took a long time and their functionality was poor...except the highest end Kenwood Execelon. There weren't any Panasonics to test though. However that Kenwood radio was over $700. I found it online for $450 and it worked well for over a year but its shorting out now.
Time to buy a new MP3 deck for a different vehicle, so I bought the Panasonic. I had one about 7 years ago and it worked flawlessly so I figured I'd give them another chance. $150 at Crutchfield and it included the mounting brackets, adapter plates, wiring harness, and antenna adapter. I was very pleased with the directions and quality of the Crutchfield parts. Install in 25 degree weather took me about 1 hr. The unit works MINT. I couldn't be happier. It takes a few seconds more to read the cd when it first starts up, but once the cd has been read...you can skip folders and songs almost instantly. No skipping or lag. Also you can fast forward and rewind MP3's which most units do not do. The sound controls are limited to bass and treble, but that will suffice for most people. The SIRIUS satellite radio built in controls, CD changer controls, aux input as well as dual outputs are all great features found on more expensive units. Sound quality is at least as good as the Kenwood I paid 5x as much for. Radio reception is BETTER than the Kenwood. I would advise replacing your stock speakers since you're going to blow them with the high output on the Panasonic unit unless you keep the volume low.
All in all, a GREAT value for your money. Replacing a radio and don't need all the graphic EQ bells and whistles? Go with this, it works perfectly and you'll save yourself hundreds of dollars.
