Center of attention . . .
Pros
Sweet looks. Bright. Fold-down removable face.
Cons
Not too many cons as compared with other tape decks.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Its got class, functionality, style, attitude, and keeps me happy everyday. Plus, it gets the same amount of attention as those new head units for about $300 less.
First of all, who buys tape decks anymore? I can barely even find tape decks at any car audio stores nowadays. This is one of the reasons I wanted to get this deck. I didn't have the cash to get one of those souped up Alpines or mp3 playing head units, but I wanted to stand out a bit. Plus, the time I bought it I was still making mixtapes because I didn't own a CD - burner. This deck was the perfect choice.
Pros: This deck has a FOLD-DOWN REMOVABLE FACE. I had never seen a tape deck like this before. Every time someone oogles at my deck I just open the face and their jaw hits the floor, its sweet. The face is so bright. You can't not look at it, its just so awesome. The color scheme is icy blue and gray, but at night the gray body pieces also glow blue for added sweetness. Quality-wise: I can't really notice differences between tape decks, and if your worried about quality, why would you be looking for a tape deck in the first place?
Cons: ehh. not really a lot of downsides here. Your buying a tape deck, so theres not too many expectations to begin with. However, there is NO KNOB, instead a ROCKER-BUTTON is used for the controls. I don't mind, but some people do. The only real downside here is the cost of a Panasonic CD-Changer (because this tape deck has changer controls). Only a Panasonic changer will work, and it'l run ya around $250 plus install.
To sum it up: I liked this deck from the first day i saw it in a shop. When/if you see it in person, you may gravitate towards it as well. It is an awesome tape deck. I ended up dumping $450 total for the deck and the cd-changer (8 disc) and i couldn't be happier.
P.S. you don't really need a cd-changer to play CDs, just buy one of those tapes with the headphone wires in it (Car Cassette-to-CD conversion kit) which will also convert the tape deck into an MP3 player too (if you have a portable mp3 player)
