A stylin' TV that's worth every penny.
Pros
Lots of inputs, great picture quality, headphone port, looks cool, FLAT tau? screen.
Cons
kinda crappy built-in speakers, too big for frail people to lift.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This is a good TV for a small room, and cheap for all the features it offers, I have enjoyed it for 3 years with no problems.
I have had this Tv for a little over 3 years, and in that time I have had absolutely NO problems with it. I have always been a big movie fan, and when I got my new apartment (away from parents) I was looking forward to buying my own TV and DVD player.
When I arrived at Good Guys, I took a long look around, looking at all the flashy 42" flatscreen HDTVs and the widescreen TVs, then drooling alot. But I didnt have the money to spend on these huge mechanical wonders, and inevitably I wondered down the wall to the smaller tvs. When I saw the panasonic, I was struck by how good it looked for a small TV. First, it had a totally flat screen, and since it sat right next to a bunch of 20" regular bowed-type screens, I could see how much better it looked. The flat screen gives you at least an inch or more than a regular Tv of the same size, and the colors were bright and crisp.
There were a couple Tv's of the same type as the panasonic, and basically I got the panasonic because it was on sale for $329.00 instead of the $350 - $400 it was for the other 2.
Setting it up was pretty easy, but the Tv, even though it's a flat screen, it is as heavy as a regular tv (or perhaps heavier) but I'm a big guy, so this was no problem (but old ladies beware - not of me, but the weight of the tv..) The first dvd player I connected through s-video (By the way, this tv has 2 of them, plus a bunch more rca connectors and component) and it looked great, if a little grainy. when I got my second DVD player, I got a cool stylin pioneer with component outputs, and let me tell you, this TV COOKS with the component - all that graininess was gone, and it was smooth and beautiful. This TV also has a headphone output on the front, which is great for watching loud movies late at night without bothering the roomates. My only small complaint is that the speakers are kinda weak.. but what can you expect from speakers built into a tv anyway. I bought a set of computer speakers I connect through the headphone port, and that set it up. Now all the roomates come to my room to watch the DVDs, even though we have a 27" toshiba in the living room. oh, I was also told this TV was HDTV ready, if you wanted to convert it.
