This is just what I needed after buying my first DVD player! This TV is considered by all sales people (I visited 5-6 local/national shops) to be the best quality non-digital set available.
I did side-by-side comparisons to the much hyped and over-priced SONY Vega (or is it Wega??) and found the Panasonic to be superior. I even had the salesman at one store run the SONY Vega demo DVD on the Panasonic and it looked BETTER!
Extremely easy to hook-up, although, due to its weight (over 90 lbs), this is definitely a two person lift (my wife and I). The on-screen set-up is very easy to use. It has all the bells and whistles you would expect and then some, including 2 tuner PIP (some people use it!). Run out and get an S-Video cable for improved quality from DVD.
Finally, I LOVE the remote on this set! Its easy to use, just the right size, nicely lighted, and UNIVERSAL! I had no problem setting it up with the rest of my components.
