I recommend it because you'll be drawn immediately to this tv over others if you see it in a store full of tvs, and the hdmi feature!
Got this tv set up with hdmi. It is the best tv on the market, for the price, if not just the best tv on the market. I saw the 30 inch tau model in walmart and the picture was the best in the store. I bought the model and the one I got had a defective picture, so I took it back and ordered the 34 inch wx54, taking a chance on the quality of this tv on buying it over the net.
Ok, I bought it and so far it's looking great with just component video. I'm still waiting for my hdmi cable to see what it can really do. It was a far step from our old tv. We put the old tv in my mom's room and after watching the new panasonic tv, the old den tv s*cks. In fact, mom was saying there was something wrong with the old tv. I just told her it's just the way old tvs were back then.
So far it has an excellent picture and since it is a crt tube tv, whatever angle you view it from, it is still bright and very beautiful, unlike the projection tvs which appear to only have decent viewing when you are directly in front of it. Also projection tvs lose some of their high definition because are "projected". Basically, if you see this tv in a store, you will be drawn to it immediately if you are looking for tvs. I'll even update this review more when I get the hdmi cable, but even without it, the picture looks great, it's far brighter than projection tvs and the sound is great! I bought the 5yr warranty, plus shipping made the overall price higher, but I want this tv to work just as good 5 yrs from now. Please add a few more stars onto this opinion.
Update. Got my hdmi cable and to me, the high definition seems perfect! Really, after watching this tv, when u go to walmart, no tv in the store can compare to this particular tv, except maybe one of those $3000 ones. Also, with a good video card you can watch dvds off your computer, with digital quality.
I wanted this tv to be able to become like a monitor for a computer too, but it lacks a few things to make it useful as a computer monitor, but it works well enough that I can reach power dvd and thus play my dvds through it with theatre quality. Really, it's a great tv for the price. Definitely worth buying.
I will update this review further later. I really think there is some computer software that can take care of the slight computer monitor use problem u can use to run this tv as a computer monitor. Seems to work fine as a monitor in s-video, but a little hard to read. There are the $3000 ones that serve as a computer monitor also, but I'm going to play with some programming on my computer to adjust the picture in hdmi for computer use. I'll post later on that.
Anyway, this tv is cheap for one with hdmi, and has the best picture quality for its price range. Buy it!
