If you have digital cable, an HDTV receiver, or like watching DVDs, this is a GREAT BUY!
Wanted to get an HDTV to replace our old standard 32" Toshiba. Looked at Consumer Reports, eopinions, Amazon and Circuit City reviews, before deciding between this and Sony. Went with this based on price and reviews...
I also have a 2 year old flatscreen Panasonic Tau in our bedroom that I've been very happy with - so being that this is also a Panasonic Tau and $500 less than a Sony, decided on this one. I am very satisfied!
I would highly recommmend this HDTV if you have digital cable, an HDTV receiver, or if you like watching DVD's. The pic with a regular cable signal is about as good as my old 32" Toshiba. With my HDTV receiver - the pic is OUTSTANDING. How clear? It looks like the people on TV are in your room, and scenery shots look like you're looking out a clear window from your house... Watch any Disney/Pixar DVD - you'll notice the fine details you never saw before. It's as good as any Plasma or LCD I've seen. STAR WARS is awesome on this HDTV.
Other reasons you'll like this HDTV - it has plenty of input/outputs including component, s-video, and 1 HDMI. The sound is 30 watts in Dolby stereo, the remote is red-lit, easy to use.
Be prepared though, this is a very heavy TV. Definitely a 2 person job. Make sure your stand is wide and sturdy enough to take this. I purchased this through Circuit City and paid the $39 delivery fee - which turned out to be a double blessing - first, they came and set everything up - when my first set had some speaker problems - they came back within the week to pick it up and deliver another new one - the 2nd set works great!
I also e-mailed Panasonic on a technical audio question and they got back to me in 24 hours! I tried what they said and it worked great! Very happy with Panasonic customer support.
If you are looking to buy a widescreen HDTV for about $1,000 this is the one. Remember that Plasma and LCD are relatively new unproven technologies as far as reliabilty - and their prices are very high but should drop within the next 2-5 years. This is a proven CRT technology HDTV that won't break your budget, although it may hurt your back...
