Engagement present.
Pros
Great picture, numerous inputs, good remote.
Cons
HDTV relatively unsupported in my area.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Great picture, maybe the best 36" for the money. Take the time to check out this TV and others in it's class, you won't be disappointed
Believe it or not, this was an engagement present. I basically could pick out whatever tv I wanted and I chose this bad-boy. I really liked this tv and the 36" in Sony Wega equally, but they had a sale at Best Buy and I got it for about $700.00 less than the Wega. The Picture is great especially when using the component inputs or S-video inputs. My DVD player and PS2 look gorgeous on this tv. This picture has really nice looking whites that I really like.
My suggestion if considering this tv is to go to Best Buy and compare this Panasonic to the Sony and also the Toshiba. All three have great pictures and really useful easy to use remotes. There are little subtle differences that may just appeal to one person more than another. Stuff like the menus, the PIP options, etc. tend to differ from manufacturer to manufacturer.
This Panasonic offers 2 S-video inputs, 2 component inputs, a total of 4 a/v (2 have S-video above them) and also some outputs. The remote is compact and easy to use all the features. There are several PIP modes including the traditional, a side by side mode, and a preview mode. I love the preview mode. You watch your program in about a 17-19 inch window on the left and the channels basically surf themselves on the right in 3 windows.
I would say you can't go wrong with this tv, but compare it to other 36" tube HDTVs. When you're shelling out this kind of scratch, the little things count.
