It fits!

Pros Great picture, right size, less than Sony.
Cons Heavy. Not cheap. Geometry issues.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Great set for the price. Give it a look. Watch for geometry problems.
I have had this set for about 6 months. I got it as a replacement for a CT-36HX40 which was almost identical. I made my initial purchase based on picture quality which I felt was on par with the Sony. They each have their strong points. The Panny was about $500 less than the Sony and finally it is not as wide as the Sony. The set had to fit in an entertainment armoir and the Sony was about 1 inch too wide.

My first set had a great picture except for a bending of straight horizontal lines. This was very noticeable on graphics, especially things like stock or news tickers that ran along the bottom of the screen. On my set there was a 3/4 inch different in the picture heighth which was very noticeable and distracting. Multiple attempts were made to adjust the set and it couldn't be fixed so they gave me the newer one. This set has similar geometry problems but they are not really noticeable. I had to look hard to see them. This is not an unheard of problem.

DVD looks awesome and I'm not running a progressive scan player. I have no experience with satellite, VHS, or HDTV(yet:local cable supposed to have HDTV in August. Will update.) One warning, the quality of your picture is very dependent on the quality of the incoming signal. A bad cable signal looks really bad on this set. So don't be surprised. I didn't know how weak my cable was until I got this set. A signal booster really helped. Also has plenty of inputs for most users.

Other reviews hit most of the shortcomings. Sound is nothing to write home about. It's aggravating to have to cycle thru the inputs instead of having direct access. All of the sets in this range are very heavy. You need a decent stand or something to put it on/in.

If you are considering a HDTV compatible, direct-view set, put this on your must view list. Good features at a reasonable price. Be sure to look for geometry distortions. I'm not aware of a reliable fix for the problem and its easier to return during the "return period" than it is to deal with Panny support. It was the right set for me.
