The Bottom Line:
A very dependable workhorse, worth every penny I paid.
So I've had this recorder for over a year and a half. I use it every day to record for later viewing and archiving when I want to keep it. It records to hard drive flawlessly and archives to DVD +/- R, 99% of the time. Sometimes if the video has been on the hard drive for months, is has trouble recording to blank disc in high speed mode. The recording process will abort pre-maturely and ruin the disc. I start another blank and switch to SP mode and it dubs to disc every time. It's just that SP mode records in real time and high speed mode transfers the file much faster. I've never lost a video file yet.
Anyway, it took me longer than most electronic devices to digest the owners manual. A lot of video format jargon that I had to learn. This digital recording stuff can be daunting for much of the population. Once I leaned to navigate the features and jargon, I found the user friendliness to be acceptable and much more logical considering the previous Samsung I tried. I think Panasonic has done an excellent job with the menus and the scheduling feature. It's worked flawlessly also.
The recorder is a workhorse. Great machine.
