I'm a lover of Panasonic equipment, and the DMR-E80 was not a disappointment. I bought it off of eBay, as a return (basically new), and I've converted thousands of TV shows to DVD using this machine. The discs it provides invariably copy well, with very few if any incompatibility with other machines. I've used it almost daily for almost two years.
The problem I've had is when the hard drive "thinks" it's too full, it freezes, approximately half-way to capacity. When that happens, everything must be deleted. To prevent this from happening, don't fill it too full, and it'll be fine.
