Does a very nice job, but it's not perfect
The thing that caught my eye about this unit is the combination of an 80 GB hard drive recorder and DVD recorder in the same unit. This allows you to copy your home videos or TV shows to a hard drive, which cuts out worries about putting a disk in the unit or having enough space for a 4 hour show... Read full review »

Fantastic DVD Recorder With A Few Shortcomings
I bought this DVD Recorder as a replacement for my VCR. I have a 65" Widescreen TV and found it unbearable to watch an old cassette tape. Best thing since remote control
After reading glowing epinion reviews, I bought this for my mom who watches a ton of TV, right after the new year (3 months ago). It was for around $500 mail order. She has it hooked up to the progressive inputs of her HDTV digital mitsubishi projection TV (mentioned in another review).

The DMRE80H is simply awesome.
I have had this for 5 months and it is amazing. I paid $699. This is the DMRE80H. I'm burning a DVD right now with stuff I want to keep so I can clear room on my hard drive.
