Some steps forward, some back
The DMR-EZ37V is the update to the ES35V which we have owned.

The ES35V would record to dvd-ram, dvd-r, dvd-r DL, dvd-rw, dvd+r, and dvd+r DL. The EZ37V adds dvd+rw. The drawback of DL recording with the ES35V was that the first layer had to closed before the next layer...

Excellent and irritating
This recorder does a fine job, but is not real smooth in the user friendliness. Why it is still built such that you must turn the unit off and keep it off until a scheduled recording time for it to auto-record is beyond me. Annoying Glitches
Really bad software design on this thing and it's full of glitches.
I bought it new in a box but as a clearance item, if I had paid
regular retail I'd have taken it back by now.
Pros:
1. Feels very solid. Metal case.
2. Recordings are excellent.

Excellent device
I have had my EZ37VS for about 3 months. I have had zero problems. I frequently record TV shows to DVD, and sometimes to VHS. Also, I just completed converting all of my VHS tapes to DVD.
