The Bottom Line:  If you can't hear it, nothing else matters.
I purchased this DVD player from best buy right before leaving on a vacation with a big layover. I did a little bit of research, but it was mostly a spontaneous purchase. Of the players in the store it fit my needs: small and good price.

I fired up the dvd player on the airplane and thought the volume nob was broken. I could barely hear the movie on my Sony ear-bud head-phones (which block a good amount of noise and I use regularly when I fly on my mp3 player). I watched the movie with subtitles on, hands clenched over my ears for the quiet scenes. During my layover I fired it up again with a different movie with the same result. Even in an airport, which isn't the quietest of places, but in a remote corner, I could hardly hear anything. It has a 3d mode, but with that on it gets even quieter, so what is the point.

The screen is great. My wife and I could both see perfectly the whole time. The menus look a little grainy, but who really cares, the movie looked good.

I don't like the buttons, they are hard to hit and don't always respond.

The menu kinda stinks, but not too bad. It was easy to turn on an off sub-titles, but other than that it wasn't great. Screen adjustments... I have no idea if it has them, I couldn't find them, but it doesn't need them.

I really really wish it would resume when you turn it back on rather than starting over again. It has bookmarks, but they're a pain to use and I have yet to have them work right. This is a big minus.

It also will randomly, about once every movies (some times never, some times 3 or so times) lock up. It goes to the samsung splash, but none of the buttons work. You have to power it down and then back up. And of course you didn't expect the crash so you didn't put a bookmark, and it doesn't resume, so you have to hunt for wherever you are.

I also wish it would show the remaining time in the title. I like to know how much time is left in a movie. Not a huge deal, but it'd be an easy thing to add and not having it just kinda bugs me.

The battery was great. I bought a spare and never used it. I think I plowed through a good 4 hours with out plugging it in.

All in all, it was OK, but the cons are enough to make me return it. I'll pay more to have one with out the problems. My sanity on a flight it worth it. If it weren't for the low volume I'd consider keeping it.
