In the advent of portable DVD players... what makes one portable better then the next is the functionality it offers. The Panasonic DVD-LV60 brings all the latest goodies into one neat stylish little package.
At first glance you immediately notice the appearance of the DVD-LV60. Silver casing with a light blue trim all around makes this portable very appealing. As you open the unit, a 5.8 inch screen is revealed. Color and brightness can be controlled to create vivid, crisp images from the LCD screen. The controls are very easy to use. On screen menu's and a joystick-like navigation tool allows you to select options with ease. One thing I like about the DVD-LV60 is the Cinematic mode which allows you to view darker images with clarity. In a movie such as, 'The Matrix', the image quality is enhanced with the Cinematic setting turned on. The player provides three screen views: normal, widescreen, and zoom.
Sound from the unit is satisfactory, mainly because the two tiny stereo speakers are only capable of so much. However, the sound is surprisingly clear even when placed on the highest volume setting. This unit features Virtual Surround Sound (V.S.S.) which simulates a 5 speaker setup with only two speakers. Quite honestly, I am very impressed with the surround sound when listening through my noise canceling earphones. The action moves from right to left and front to back... flawless!
The one drawback to the Panasonic DVD-LV60 is price... I purchased mine for $599, but it was worth every dollar. Battery life is 3-5 hours depending on the brightness setting. The DVD-LV60 can also play MP3's and VCD's. Most MP3 players run for about $300 to $500 dollars... Having a unit as portable as the DVD-LV60 allows me to take my MP3's anywhere and hooking them up to a receiver is a piece of cake. Another use for the DVD-LV60 is to hook it up to your car stereo system with the proper digital in's and out's and enjoy the mp3's on the road... I have also burned my favorite music videos into VCD format and now listen and watch my music in the car... (which I don't recommend if you're driving!!!).
The unit comes equipped with RCA cables to hook up your player to any entertainment system, however, you do have to buy your S-Video adapter seperately... with the price tag on this unit you would think that the people at Panasonic would have included it. The remote is slim and straight forward, but there is no volume control... Another added bonus to the DVD-LV60 is the ability to hook up your video camera or any other video source to the unit and use the LCD screen as an external monitor. This is especially great for people who wish they could view their video's on the road... with the DVD-LV60 you can! Heck, I have even gone as far as hooking up my PS2 to the DVD-LV60 and playing games on the road. If you have kids... this player is a must have!!!
Overall, this unit has everything you always wished for in a portable DVD player. Go buy one today and be the envy of your friends... Turn heads with this sexy piece of technology. That's all for now... BYE!!!
