A Nice High-Tech Toy

The Bottom Line:
A nice 7 inch screen unit.
This is my first portable DVD player. In particular, I bought this one because of its reported long battery life and very positive reviews.
I have had this unit for about a month and played a variety of movies on it. I am quite impressed.
First. The battery life is amazing. I watched three 1.5 hour plus movies without a problem (it promptly died on the fourth movie). I should say, that it might have lasted even longer if I had set the screen lighting to the lowest setting.
Second. This unit is very compact but does weigh a bit with the battery.
Third. The picture and color is very good. Watching it with headphones was almost as good as using the TV. The widescreen is a real plus.
Fourth. Considering how small the speakers are, the sound is quite amazing. It probably would not work well in a car or airplane, although the sound can be cranked up quite a bit. What is quite striking is that the sound doesn't seem to eminate from the unit - there is a strong surrond/stereo effect.
Fifth. This unit does not skip, even when it is moved around. I am sure if one bumped it, it would, but normal movement is no problem.
Unfortunately as goes with many of these units, it does not include a power cord for a car. I managed to find a 3rd party one (for air and car) on Buy.com for about $45 (free shipping) (http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10311575&loc=101).
